We are nearing the light at the end of the tunnel. The boys had their tonsils and adenoids removed last Tuesday. Today being day 5 post surgery, things are slowly starting to get back to normal. We have expanded our diet beyond popsicles, green smoothies, and jello. We had tiny bites of hot dog yesterday and even a chicken nugget (very slowly) today. I bribed them with a popsicle for dessert if they had a few mushy peas at dinner…trying to get our balanced diet back!
Their voices are still higher pitched and they prefer to not open their mouths very wide so they both are mumbling more like their dad. 🙂
They have codeine in their medicine that still has to be given every four hours around the clock (last night they woke us up at hour 5 in pain, but hopefully soon we’ll be done with night time meds). The codeine makes Ben super hyper. Day one he was hoping on one foot and being crazy. The same medicine makes Will super sleepy. Funny how the same DNA responds so differently!
We are optimistic that we will be able to hit the pool in the next couple days. They say it is a 7-10 day recovery…we are seeing the light!
